Laser Operator
Job Description
This position sets up and runs laser cutting machine(s) to meet production requirements while maintaining the ability to communicat eeffectively with co-worker, all while maintaining laser machine by daily operator maintenance, and keeping a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
Ensure that Company/Plant Safety/Health Practices and Environmental Regulations are rigidly adhered to.
Responsibilities
1) Reports to the Laser Manager.
2) Follow all safety procedures while reporting any possible safety issues.
3) Detect and report any defective product being produced or already produced.
4) Use various inspecting techniques and tools; tape measures, calipers, and micrometers to check the conformance of produced parts.
5) Perform paperwork requirements and other duties as assigned and write legibly.
6) Must clean optics and select specific nozzles based on material being cut.
7) Troubleshoot and correct poor cutting conditions.
8) Train and mentor processors working at your laser.
9) Keep a clean workstation at all times, free of wood, bands, trash, and defective parts.
10) Effectively monitor and adjust productivity and efficiency at your laser.
11) Verify staged material in laser staging area to make sure you do not run out of material while completing the daily production.
12) Actively update the laser Manager on production status.
13) Understand customer requirement for a product.
14) Represent the plant as required to foster good community relations.
15) Ensure that plant operations are conducted in such a fashion that environmental difficulties are few, including maintenance of acceptable work practices in all areas.
16) Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
1. High school diploma or equivalent
2. Prior experience in manufacturing environment, manufacturing methods,and operating a laser machine.
3. Prior experience with steel productionand fabrication.
4. Strong multi-tasking skills.
5. Good Oral and Written Communication skills
6. Must be capable of managing multiple priorities.
7. Familiar with Process Safety, Quality and EnvironmentalPrograms, Fabrication and Modern Manufacturing Methods.
8. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
9. Strong tape measure and mathematical skills.
10. Ability to lift heavy packages, up to 75 lbs.
11. Excellent human relations skills
Able to follow written and verbal instructions.
Able to set up and operate CNC laser machine to cut metal parts to blueprint/ drawing.
Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment with rapidly changing priorities
Ability to read and operate basic measurement tools
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
Must be able to lift 10/25/50pounds regularly
Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment most of the day.
Must be punctual and have reliable attendance
Must be strong troubleshooter
