Job Description
This position sets up and runs welding production while maintaining the ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, all while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
Responsibilities
Reports to the Welding Department Supervisor
• Set up and operate welding equipment, GMAW, SMAW, GTAW, etc.
• Good with flux-core, metal-core, spray arc transfers based on production
• Read and interpret job specs to determine machine adjustments and weld times
• Check and verify parts meet specifications and quality tolerances
• Detect and report any defective product being produced or already produced.
• Communicate issues to supervisor (i.e. equipment issues, maintenance needs)
• Use various inspecting techniques and tools; tape measures, calipers, protractors, and weld gauges to check the conformance of produced parts
• Performs paperwork requirements and other duties as assigned and writes legibly
• Perform preventative operator level maintenance
• Train and mentor new welders and processors in the weld department
• Keep a clean work station at all times, free of wood, bands, trash, and defective parts.
Job Requirements
• Able to follow written and verbal instructions
• Must be able to pass on-site weld test
• Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment with rapidly changing priorities.
• Ability to read and operate basic measurement tools
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
• Must be able to lift 10/25/50 pounds regularly
• Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment most of the day
• Must be punctual and have reliable attendance
• Good interpersonal skills
• Strong background in a production manufacturing environment
